What should be known about varicosity and how it occurs?
|
| » |
The leg has two vein-systems: one of them under the surface (epidermis) and the other in deep, situated between muscles in the calves and the upper legs. These latter veins carry 90% of the blood from the legs towards the heart. The two systems are linked by perforant carrier-veins.
|
| » |
Veins collect the blood poor in oxygen from tissues and carry it towards the heart. Primarily the movement of muscles actuates the transportation: when muscles contracts, deep veins are squeezed so that blood is pumped towards the heart. Afterwards blood flows from surface veins to deeper veins through perforant carrier-veins that will be filled up again this way. |

There are valves in veins to make the blood flow only in direction of the heart. Hereby, the force of gravity on blood is counteracted.
|
| » |
If these valves work abnormally, the blood will get stagnated in the veins. It can happen both in case of deep veins and surface veins. In the latter case, the varicose veins are rather cosmetic problem. They appear mostly on the calves and the inner part of the upper legs. |

Varicose veins can be seen as skin turns blue, or veins are getting visibly enlarged and twisted. In more serious cases inflammatory disorders on the skin and sores on legs can develop. |

How frequent problem varicosity is, and who are affected?
|
| » |
Approximately 40% of adult inhabitants suffer from varicose veins.
|
| » |
It will be more visible with age, but also gender specific: it is 2-3 times more frequent on women, than on men. |
| » |
Inheritance plays important role, too: varicose vein occurs 75% more often with people who has similar problem within their family.
|
| » |
Other circumstances can accelerate the risk of this problem, as pregnancy, excess weight, standing job, sitting work, lack of exercise. |

 |
What can we do if varicosity occurs?
|
| » |
It is better to prevent extrapolation of varicose veins before it can be cured only surgically.
|
| » |
Prevention and curing of light symptoms can be like bolstering up the lower limbs, application of elastic stockings and bandage and of course usage of INVISIBLE BANDAGE: veincare creams.
